Sinkholes are terrifying. Having the ground open up and swallow your car - with you in it - is one way to give yourself nightmares for the rest of your life.
Over the weekend a sinkhole opened up in Florida after high-volume running water, presumably a water main, burst underground and eventually caused a wide circle of earth to collapse, taking a petrified old lady’s car with it.
She was apparently too scared to get out of the car after her front wheels went over the lip of the collapsing ground, but she and her husband did eventually make it out safe before the hole expanded and took the rest of the car.
We don’t know about you, but we don’t fancy experiencing this for ourselves. Well done to the authorities who got it under control and repaired the gas main that was ruptured by the damage.
